Vols Release 2012-13 Schedule

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -
The Tennessee Men's Golf team has announced its 2012-13 schedule as Volunteers look to build off momentum from last year and be strong contenders for the NCAA Championship. The season includes four fall tournaments and five spring contests before entering postseason play.
Head coach Jim Kelson has been the leader of the Volunteer golf program since 1998. Kelson, entering his 15th year, returns a team poised to compete at the highest level. In addition, Coach Kelson has put together a stellar recruiting class for the upcoming year.
The Vols will open the fall season Sept. 7 with a trip to Dalton, Ga., for the Carpet Capital Collegiate played at The Farm. The tournament will host some of the nation's top teams including the reigning national champions, University of Texas.
The team travels to Chicago, Ill., Sept. 23-24 for the Windon Memorial and then returns home to Tennessee, Oct. 12-14 to play in the Bank of Tennessee at Blackthorn event in Jonesborough, Tenn.
For the final event of the fall season, the Volunteers will head to the west coast, Nov. 5-7 to take part in the Gifford Collegiate played in San Martin, Calif., at the Cordevalle Golf Club.
Tennessee starts the spring season with two tournaments in Ponte Vedra, Fl. On Feb. 4-5, the Vols play in the Jacksonville Invitational at TPC Stadium Course and on Feb. 24-26, they participate in the John Hayt Invitational at Sawgrass Country Club.
The team then finishes out their spring with trips to Myrtle Beach, S.C., to play in the General Hackler Intercollegiate, Williamsburg, Va., to play in the C&F Bank Intercollegiate and Augusta, Ga., to play in the Insperity Augusta Invitational.
The 2012-13 postseason begins April 19-21 in Sea Island, Ga., for the SEC Championship at the Seaside Golf Course. The Volunteers will not only have to compete with last year's SEC Champions, University of Alabama, but also the addition of the two new Southeastern Conference schools, University of Missouri and Texas A&M University.
The nation's top teams will be invited to participate in NCAA Regionals from May 16-18. The field will be divided into six regional sites: Baton Rouge, La., Tallahassee, Fl., Columbus, Ohio, Fayetteville, Ark., Pullman, Wash., Tempe, Ariz.
The 2013 NCAA Championship will be held at the Capital City Club, Crabapple Course on May 28-June 2 in Atlanta, Ga.
