Delayed Start
• The start of tonight's contest was delayed 93 minutes (6:07 to 7:40 p.m.) due to
severe weather in the Knoxville area. That is the longest weather delay in Neyland Stadium history.
• It was Tennessee's third weather delay since 2006. The Vols were delayed 55
minutes against Marshall on Sept. 23, 2006, and 70 minutes vs. Oregon on Sept.
11, 2010.
• The Vols did not run through the `T' for just the second time in the last 301 home
games since the tradition was started against Army on Sept. 18, 1965. The only
other time was against Marshall on Sept. 23, 2006.
Quick Hits
Tennessee played 12 true freshmen tonight, matching true freshmen total from
2010 season opener:
-Offense: Brendan Downs, Cameron Clear, DeAnthony Arnett, Marlin Lane, Vincent Dallas, Antonio Richardson, Tom Smith
-Defense: Justin Coleman, A.J. Johnson, Curt Maggitt, Brian Randolph, Marcus
Jackson
The Offense
Hot Start for Hunter
• Hunter recorded career highs in both receptions (6) and receiving yards (146)
• Bray and Hunter connected on two 80+ yard passing plays, becoming just the
third UT duo to do so. They connected for an 81-yarder tonight and an 80-yarder
against Ole Miss on Nov. 13, 2010.
• Other pairs include Erik Ainge and Robert Meachem (84 yards at Memphis
2006 and 80 yards vs. Cal 2006) and Alan Cockrell and Clyde Duncan (85 yards vs.
Vanderbilt 1983 and 80 yards vs. Alabama, 1983).
Bray Bombs Away
•In six career starts, Tyler Bray is averaging 306.5 passing yards per game.
• Bray's 81-yard first-quarter TD pass to Justin Hunter ties for the ninth-longest
pass play in UT history (Condredge Holloway to Tommy West vs. Vanderbilt in
1974).
We're Going Streaking!
•Tyler Bray now has at least one TD pass in seven consecutive games, which is
the longest current streak in the SEC.
•Bray has also thrown at least two TDs in seven consecutive games, tying him
with Peyton Manning for the longest such streak in UT history.
• Bray connected for touchdowns on both of his first two passes of the season.
Double Trouble
•Tennesseee sophomore wideouts Justin Hunter and Da'Rick Rogers became
just the 18th Vol tandem to each record 100+ yards receiving in the same game
and the first since Lucas Taylor (118) and Austin Rogers (112) did so against
Southern Miss on Sept. 8, 2007.
• Da'Rick Rogers tallied his third career TD with the longest reception of his career
(47 yards).
In the Fast Lane
• Marlin Lane's first appearance came on a first-quarter punt return which he
returned for nine yards.
• Freshman RB Marlin Lane rushed for 18 yards on his first career attempt
• Lane first collegiate TD came on a nine-yard pass, the first reception of his career, from Bray in the second quarter.
The Defense
Pick Six
• Art Evans returned his first career interception 37 yards for a touchdown in the
third quarter. The Vols had four interception returns for a TD in 2010, including
three by Prentiss Waggner.
A Fresh Look
• Curt Maggitt (SLB) and A.J. Johnson (WLB) became the first freshmen to start at
any linebacker position for Tennessee since freshmen eligibility was reinstated
in 1972.
•LCB Justin Coleman became the first true freshman to start in the secondary
since Eric Berry did so at California in 2007.
