- Tennessee falls to 3-5 (1-4 SEC); Alabama improves to 8-0 (5-0 SEC) on the year.
- The Vols entered the game unranked in both the Associated Press and USA Today polls; Alabama is ranked second in both polls.
- Tennessee returns to action Nov. 1 when it travels to Columbia, S.C., to take on South Carolina. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET. The game will be televised by ESPN2.
- Alabama now leads the all-time series with Tennessee 46-38-7.
- The Crimson Tide lead the series in Knoxville 21-20-1.
- Phillip Fulmer now owns an 11-5 record against Alabama.
- Tennessee head coach Phillip Fulmer's record now stands at 150-50 (.750) in 17 seasons with the Vols.
- Fulmer now owns an 87-18 (.829) record in home games, 94-33 (.740) regular season SEC record and a 37-16 (.698) record against the SEC Western Division.
- Today marked the 200th game that Fulmer has been the head coach at Tennessee.
- Sophomore defensive back Dennis Rogan returned four kickoffs for 78 yards tonight and now stands in sixth place on UT's career kickoff return list with 876.
- For his career, the Knoxville native has 1,065 combined kick and punt return yards and that mark puts him in 10th place on the Tennessee career list.
- Senior punter Britton Colquitt punted seven times for an average of 43.6 yards.
- Sophomore linebacker LaMarcus Thompson forced a fumble on UT's first punt of the game that Dennis Rogan recovered on the Alabama five-yard line to set up a UT field goal.
- Rogan's fumble recovery was the first this season for UT.
- Junior tailback Montario Hardesty blocked an Alabama punt in the second quarter to set up UT inside the Crimson Tide 35 yard line. It was UT's first blocked punt since Antonio Wardlow blocked an Arkansas punt in 2007.
- Junior linebacker Rico McCoy led the Vols with 13 tackles. It was a season-high for the Washington D.C. native and the fifth time in his career he eclipsed the 10-tackle mark.
- Sophomore defensive back Eric Berry finished with a season-high 11 tackles. It is Berry's fourth career game he had more than 10 tackles.
- Junior defensive back Demetrice Morley tied his career-high with nine tackles. Sophomore linebacker Savion Frazier tied his career-high with four tackles. Sophomore defensive end Ben Martin set a career-high with three tackles.
- Tennessee's defense has allowed just one rushing play of 20 yards or longer this season (none today).
- Redshirt sophomore quarterback Nick Stephens finished the game 16 of 28 passing for 137 yards and one touchdown.
- Senior wide receiver Josh Briscoe caught a 10-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter for his first score of the season. It was Briscoe's eighth career touchdown reception.
- The Lawndale, N.C., native led the Vols with four receptions for 46 yards. Both marks were season-highs.
- Senior tailback Arian Foster made his 22nd consecutive start today, extending his streak of the second-most consecutive starts by a UT tailback in the Fulmer era (1992- present). Jay Graham tops that chart with a string of 24 starts during the 1995 and 1996 seasons. Foster finished the game with 21 yards rushing and now has 2,796 for his career. He needs 57 yards to move past Johnnie Jones for third place on UT's career list.
- Defensive back Eric Berry saw action on offense for the first time in his career, catching one pass for three yards. The Fairburn, Ga., native also returned two kickoffs for 32 yards. It was the first time in his career that Berry lined up deep to return kickoffs.
- Sophomore tight end Luke Stocker's 26-yard grab in the second quarter was a career-long.
- Today's attendance was 106,138.
- Senior Austin Rogers (WR) and junior Jeff Cottam (TE) made their first starts of the season.
