MEACHEM AND SEARS RECEIVE ALL-AMERICA HONORS

Tennessee football players Robert Meachem and Arron Sears traveled to Orlando, Fla., Thursday for football award shows to receive recognition as All-Americas.
Sears appeared on ESPN's Home Depot College Football Awards Show Thursday as a member of the Walter Camp All-America team. The show aired live from the Atlantic Dance Hall on The Boardwalk at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. Sears has also been named an AFCA and Rivals.com All-America as well as being named first-team All-SEC. He also received the Jacobs Trophy, presented annually to the SEC's best blocker.
Meachem was in Orlando for the Cingular ESPN All-America Team Awards Show where he was named a member of the Football Writers Association of America's 25-man All-America team. The show airs on ABC, Saturday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. The junior from Tulsa, Okla., set a Tennessee season record this year with 1,265 receiving yards on 67 catches thus far and hauled in 11 touchdown passes. Meachem leads the SEC and is third nationally with a 105.4-yards per game receiving average.
The addition of Meachem and Sears gives Tennessee 70 total individual All-America selections, dating to 1929.
TICKETS REMAIN ON SALE FOR OUTBACK BOWL
Tickets for Tennessee's appearance in the Outback Bowl versus Penn State remain on sale. Ticket sales since the announcement have been brisk according to UT ticket manager Joe Arnone but seats can still be purchased out of UT's allotment for the game. Tickets can be bought at the UT Ticket Office, which is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets can also be ordered on-line at UTsports.com or by calling 656-1200 or toll-free in Tennessee 1-800-332-VOLS (8657). Tickets for the Outback Bowl are $60.
On Thursday, the Outback Bowl announced it had sold out all tickets that were not provided in team allotments to Tennessee and Penn State.
VOLS TO BEGIN BOWL PRACTICE ON SATURDAY
Tennessee's campus portion of their Outback Bowl practice schedule begins Saturday at Haslam Field. The Vols will stage 10 single-day workouts before beginning their holiday break the afternoon of Dec. 20.
BOWL MEDIA DAY SCHEDULED FOR DEC. 14
A press conference for the Tennessee Volunteers in advance of the 2007 Outback Bowl has been scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 14. Tennessee head coach Phillip Fulmer and players will be available to discuss the contest. In addition, a teleconference featuring Fulmer and selected Tennessee players also will be conducted.
