Seniors Ross McGowan and David Skinns have been named to the Ping third-team All-America squad by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
"Anytime a player has one player named All-America, that is an accomplishment," UT head coach Jim Kelson said. "But when a team has two, that will have been a special year for your program.
"We were able to accomplish and succeed at a reasonably high level thanks to Ross and David. Both players had terrific years, worked very hard and were very deserving of their success. I wish them the best as they embark on their professional careers."
McGowan led UT at the NCAA championships with a four-day total of 67-71-75-70--283, tying for seventh place. The top-10 finish was the sixth of the year for McGowan, who also earned second-team All-SEC honors.
Skinns concluded his collegiate career with a scorecard of 71-75-81-70--297, tying for 51st at the NCAAs. He was the 2005 SEC individual champion and earned first-team All-SEC for the third time in his four-year career.
The seniors were instrumental in Tennessee's second-place finish at the NCAA East Regional, propelling the Vols into the NCAA championship field for the first time since 2003.
SKINNS COMPETES IN PALMER CUP, WINS CARTER AWARD
Former UT golfer David Skinns was part of the eight-man European squad that competed in the recent Palmer Cup college matches in Haven, Wis. For his efforts and all-around contributions to the game of golf, Skinns was named recipient of the Michael Carter Jr. Award by his fellow competitors.
The U.S. won 14-10, with Skinns winning both of his doubles matches and losing two singles competitions for the European side.
