David Skinns and Ross McGowan Earn All-SEC Honors

Tennessee golfer David Skinns was named first-team All-SEC, while teammate Ross McGowan was voted second team all-conference. This is Skinns' fourth selection overall, while this is McGowan's first selection.
Skinns, a senior from Lincoln, England, leads the team in scoring average with a 72.41. He recently claimed top honors at the SEC Championships with a 72-70-68--210. This marked the first time a Vol had claimed the SEC individual title since Mike Sposa in 1990. He has three other top 10 finishes to his credit coming at the Bank of Tennessee Ridges Intercollegiate in a tie for 10th, the Gary Koch/Cleveland Golf Intercollegiate in seventh and the Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions in a tie for eighth.
This marks Skinns third appearance as a first-team selection with previous years coming in 2002 and 2003. He was voted second team in 2004. While being voted to the first time in 2002 he was also named SEC Freshman of the Year.
McGowan, a senior from Cheam Surrey, England, is having his most successful season as a Vol with a scoring average of 73.12. He has four top-10 finishes to his credit coming at the Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions in a tie for third, the Ashworth Collegiate Invitational in second, the Schenkel/E-Z-Go Invitational in a tie for third and the Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate in a tie for eighth.
Kentucky senior John Holmes was named SEC Golfer of the year, while Mark Anderson of South Carolina was voted SEC Freshman fo the Year. Kentucky's Brian Craig received coach of the year honors.
The 13th-ranked Volunteers now wait to find out their destination for one of the three upcoming regionals. The regional sites are the Golf Club of Tennessee in Nashville for the East Regional, Notre Dame's Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind., for the Central Regional and the Stanford University Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif., for the West Regional.
