Tennessee's Chris Lofton has been named a third team selection to the 2004-05 Rivals.com Freshman All-America Team. Lofton is one of six Southeastern Conference players who received Freshman All-America honors from Rivals.com.
A 6-foot-2 guard from Maysville, Ky., Lofton has established himself as one of the best long-range shooters in the nation, regardless of class. His 89 3-pointers on the season are the second-highest total in Tennessee history and are the most ever by a freshman in the Southeastern Conference. Throughout the season he has ranked among the top 10 3-point shooters in the nation by making more than 47 percent of his shots from behind the 3-point arc. His 14.8 points in SEC games led the Vols and ranked ninth in the conference.
Rivals.com will release its choice for National Freshman of the Year on Tuesday.
