Bryce Wallor Named Assistant Men's Golf Coach

Tennessee head men's golf coach Jim Kelson announced the hiring of Bryce Wallor as the new assistant golf coach. Wallor replaces Bowen Sargent who became the head men's golf coach at the University of Virginia.
"We feel very fortunate to hire someone with such a well-rounded background," Kelson said. "Bryce possesses significant experience as a professional player, teacher and head coach. His expertise in all of these areas will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our program.
Wallor is no stranger to coaching golf, as he was the head men's coach at the University of Connecticut from 2000-02. Before that he was an assistant at Davidson College from 1999-2000. While serving as head coach at Connecticut, Wallor improved the Huskies' standing in the national polls by 47 spots, as well as their tournament scoring average by 12 strokes per round.
Professional highlights include director of golf instruction at Narragansett County Club in Narragansett, R.I., and Highland Ridge Golf Center in Mansfield, Conn., teaching professional at Dana Rader Golf Institute in Charlotte, N.C., assistant professional at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club in Orlando, Fla. and a sales representative for the Golfers' Warehouse in Cranston, R.I.
During the 2002-03 season, he served as a volunteer assistant coach at Rhode Island. In 2002, Wallor won the Rhode Island State Open and competed on the 2003 New England Professional Golf Tour.
Wallor competed collegiately for the University of Rhode Island from 1993-98. He helped lead the Rams to two NCAA East Regional tournaments, while being voted team captain in 1997-98. He was an individual medalist at the 1997 Bob Toski Invitational. In 1998 he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.
"Coach Kelson brings a great deal of knowledge and success to the table as a coach and I am looking forward to working with and learning from him," Wallor said. "The University of Tennessee is one of the premier programs in college golf and I am greatful for the opportunity to be part of the Tennessee family.
The Vols open the 2005 spring schedule, Feb. 5-6, at the Suntrust Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
