Vols Win Second Dominican Exhibition 95-92 in Final Seconds

SANTO DOMINGO, DOMINCAN REPUBLIC - Tennessee evened its record to 1-1 in the Dominican Republic Friday with a 95-92 decision in Santo Domingo. A pair of key defensive plays from Justin Albrecht and C.J. Watson iced the game in a final seconds.
Tennessee led 80-67 in the fourth quarter but the Under 21 Dominicana National Team closed the gap to 93-92 on a three-pointer by Luis Paulino with 30 seconds remaining.
Watson connected on two free throws to give the Vols' a 95-92 advantage with 4.8 seconds remaining after stripping Jose Fortuna of the ball, while seconds earlier Albrecht stopped a sure Dominican basket by breaking up a 2-on-1 fast break.
Junior guard Scooter McFadgon led the Vols with 22 points and five rebounds. Watson added 16 points, while John Winchester (15), Jemere Hendrix (10) and freshman Major Wingate (10) also tallied double-figures for the Vols.
"We just had a good team effort and made some free throws," Watson said. "It is a good win. It shows how strong we are as a team right now."
Prior to the game, the Tennessee coaching staff was given the opportunity to tour a local hospital and school, which ended up being a valuable expreience.
The team returns to Knoxville Sunday and will resume classes Monday morning.
