ROAD WOES CONTINUE AT SOUTH CAROLINA FOR LADY VOL TENNIS

The 10th-rated University of Tennessee Lady Volunteer tennis team dropped its second consecutive road match to No. 20 South Carolina on Sunday at the Maxcy Gregg Tennis Center on the Campus of USC. The Gamecocks rallied from deficits in two out doubles matches to sweep the pairs portion of the contest and went on to win four out of the six singles tilts to down the Lady Vols, 5-2. The loss drops Tennessee to a 7-3 Southeastern Conference mark and 16-7 overall. South Carolina improves to 14-5 overall and 7-3 in league play.
South Carolina jumped out to an early lead after taking the doubles point and extended it to 2-0 when 85th-rated Jennifer Radman upset No. 15 Alison Ojeda 6-2, 6-1. Soon after, Agnes Wiski dropped the No. 3 match to Kathy Boyanovich, 6-3, 6-4 and Ashley Robards suffered a 6-0, 6-4 setback at the racquet of Jodi Kenoyer at No. 5. The tilt clinched USC's triumph and snapped Robards' eight-match win streak.
With the contest decided, UT got on the board as Vilmarie Castellvi captured the No. 1 match and Crystal Cleveland came back to claim a three-set triumph on court four.
Up next, Tennessee will have a week to prepare for a meeting with No. 2 Georgia at noon on April 13 in Athens, Ga.
