Vol Profile: Dan Wilson
VOL PROFILE: Why did you decide to come to Tennessee?
Wilson: "I basically followed some guys from high school. I had a group of guys that I played with in high school and junior college and they told me about UT and let me know about it. They said the school is great and the athletic facilities are top of the line. I followed them out here and they gave me a shot and I took the chance and came out here."
VOL PROFILE: What's you favorite thing about UT?
Wilson: "It's got to be the football games, you can't beat them. I'm from the west coast and I think the Southern culture and atmosphere is awesome. It just makes you want to live out here--the hospitality is great."
VOL PROFILE: Do you have any specific goals you've set for yourself this season?
Wilson: "I actually stuck something in my phone, in the screen that comes up on my phone every time I turn it on. I set my goals high because I want to be drafted this year because it's my senior year and I don't want to stop playing. I set my goal at hitting 375, with 15 home runs and 80 RBIs. You've got to set them high so that if you don't make them you are still up there."
VOL PROFILE: Do you have anyone that you look to for motivation?
Wilson: "It's got to be my dad, my dad and my mom. They've stuck behind me the entire time. My pops is always around wanting to know what I've been doing and what's going on, so I would have to say he has the biggest influence on me."
VOL PROFILE: Is there any certain mental preparation you go through before a game?
Wilson: "Just to get to the ball park early and hang out with the guys. You've got to get in the flow with everybody else, you've got to feel comfortable with each other. I like to get some music going and get the guys going and talking. You've got to have a good time, before you go to war."
VOL PROFILE: What are you interests or hobbies outside of baseball?
Wilson: "Fishing, I could go fishing every day for the rest of my life and I would love it."
VOL PROFILE: After you graduate, what would you like to be remembered for?
Wilson: "Just a team player, as a guy that came out here and would do anything for his team. I love these guys and I would do anything for them."
