Tierra Howard-Berry is in her first year as an associate athletic trainer and physician extender at the University of Tennessee. Her current role allows her to assist the head team physician, Dr. Chris Klenck, in providing primary, sports medicine and orthopedic care to the university’s athletes.
She previously served at UT from 2017-2019 as an assistant athletic trainer and provided athletic training services to the football program. She has since returned to Knoxville from Baltimore, Maryland where she served from 2019-2022 as the physician extender to the head and assistant orthopedic surgeon for the University of Maryland’s Terrapins.
Howard-Berry completed a two-year graduate assistantship at Georgia Tech while receiving her master’s degree in Sports Medicine from Georgia State University in 2017. As a Yellow Jacket, she provided sole sports medicine coverage to the institution’s women’s tennis program, while she assisted the head and assistant athletic trainer with the football program.
From 2013-2015, Tierra completed a Certified Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Maryland, where she provided athletic training services for the university’s volleyball program. She had the opportunity to aid the Sports Medicine Department and volleyball program’s transition from the Atlantic Coast Conference to the Big 10.
A native of Waynesboro, Virginia, Tierra received her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from West Virginia University. She is a board-certified athletic trainer and licensed by the Tennessee Department of Health. She is a current member of Athletic Trainers in the Physician Practice Society and Southeast Athletic Trainers’ Association.
