A Franklin, Tennessee, native, Patterson was promoted to her senior director of broadcasting post in 2022, assuming oversight of a best-in-class broadcasting unit that coordinates all digital and linear broadcasts for Tennessee Athletics. She again was promoted in November 2024, this time to assistant athletics director, live production & broadcast.
She has vast experience producing Tennessee baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball games for air on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network and worldwide on the ESPN streaming platforms. She also works collaboratively with Tennessee’s heralded VFL Films staff.
Dating to her days as an undergraduate, Patterson boasts more than a decade of experience within the University of Tennessee System.
“Staisha’s unique skillset and team-first mentality make her a rising star within the department,” Executive Associate AD of External Operations Alicia Longworth said. “Her ability to develop culture, teach students and enhance the experience for everyone in a live control-room setting separates her in the broadcasting business. Staisha continues to find new ways to build the brand and tell the stories of Tennessee Athletics by producing hundreds of broadcasts each year.”
Patterson’s return to Rocky Top in a full-time role in 2016 was preceded by a two-year tenure as a producer at WYMT-TV, the CBS affiliate in Hazard, Kentucky. She had previously interned at NBC affiliate WBIR-TV in Knoxville.
A member of the National Association of Black Journalists, she also has served as a UT Promise Mentor since 2021.
Patterson earned her bachelor’s degree in sports broadcasting from UT’s College of Communication & Information in 2011, before completing a master’s degree in higher education administration & leadership at UT Martin in 2021.
