Kristen Martin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She joined the University of Tennessee Women's Athletic Department in July 2002.
Martin was the Team ENHANCE Coordinator for the Lady Vol athletes through 2012. Since combining both men's and women's athletic programs, she is now the Director of Mental Health/Wellness services for all student athletes.
Her primary responsibility is providing individual and group counseling to student athletes. She also consults with coaches and teams, sets up educational seminars, and conducts assessments on an as needed basis.
Martin is a former member of the USA Swimming Disordered Eating Task Force as well as a former member of the Female Athlete Triad Coalition. Currently she is part of the SEC group for clinical sports psychologists and a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
Previously, she has worked in various clinical settings including substance abuse, adolescent residential treatment, and community mental health.
Martin claimed Social Worker of the Year honors in 1998 for the Knox Area Branch of the National Association of Social Workers. The Orange, Calif., native received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Pepperdine University in 1991 and a master's degree in clinical social work from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1997.
Martin was a member of the Pepperdine swim team and captained the squad during her senior season.
Martin lives in Knoxville with her husband, Mike, and their three children, Ryan, Anna and Caroline.
