Brad Briggs is in his 12th year with Tennessee Athletics in 2025-26 and his first as Deputy Athletics Director/Chief Financial Officer.
Briggs oversees financial management, business operations, Anthony Travel, procurement and information technology for Tennessee Athletics.
Prior to his role as Deputy Athletics Director, Briggs was UT’s executive associate athletics director of business affairs & administration/CFO after previously serving from 2023-24 as senior associate athletics director of business affairs & administration/CFO.
From 2019-23 as UT's assistant AD of business and finance, Briggs oversaw the Athletics Business and Finance Office, which manages the department’s financial reporting, budget development and business operations. He also monitored the athletics department's more than $140 million operating budget and served as the liaison between the athletics department and the university's procurement office.
During the development of Tennessee Athletics' comprehensive five-year strategic plan, Rise Glorious—which was published in July of 2022—Briggs served on both the Competitive Excellence and Resources committees. In 2022, Briggs received the inaugural Summitt Excellence Award, named in recognition of Pat Summitt, which recognizes a UTAD employee who best exemplifies Pat Summitt’s Definite Dozen, a model for success.
Briggs began working with Tennessee Athletics in 2013 as a graduate intern with event management. Before being promoted to his current role, he served as a Business Analyst, Manager of Financial Planning and Director of Business and Finance.
A native of Manhattan, Kansas, Briggs earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Southern Illinois University in May 2010. He received the SIU President’s Academic Excellence Award as a student-athlete on the Salukis football team. After working in the private sector as a financial analyst, Briggs received both his master's of Business Administration and master's of Science in Sport Management from the University of Tennessee.
A resident of the Town of Farragut, Briggs and his wife, Lainey, have two children, Carter and Ava.
