Bobby Curtis is the Director of Rehabilitation for the University of Tennessee Football Program. He is a dual credentialed, Board-Certified Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy and Athletic Trainer, with the role of overseeing the rehabilitation and return to sport progressions for the student athletes.
Bobby came to Tennessee after spending the previous six years at Rutgers University where he served as the Director of Rehabilitation and Injury Prevention. In that role, Bobby played a pivotal role in developing evidence-based return to play protocols and strategies to mitigate soft tissue injury risks. During that time, he was an active member of the New Jersey Sports Physical Therapy SIG and presented on the Effects of Blood Flow Restriction Training on the Collegiate Athlete at the Big Ten Sports Medicine Meeting in 2021.
Before returning to collegiate athletics in 2018, Bobby was the clinical manager at Oxford Physical Therapy in Cincinnati. He also spent five years as an Athletic Trainer, eventually providing services in a dual credentialed role, at Beacon Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, primarily with the Cincinnati Wolfhounds Rugby Club and the Bridge Program.
Prior to his graduate studies in Physical Therapy, Curtis served as the Director of Clinical Education for the Athletic Training program at Xavier University and completed a yearlong athletic training internship with the Cincinnati Bengals during the 2012-2013 season.
He completed his undergraduate studies at Xavier University in 2012, graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and minor in Pre-Physical Therapy. Curtis completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Mount St. Joseph University in 2017, earning the department’s prestigious Clinical Excellence Award for the class of 2017 and the Alumni Leadership Award for his contributions to the field of Physical Therapy in 2023.
Bobby and his wife, Kelly, are the proud parents of two children, Cole and Kennedy.
