Kerin Retiring as UTAD Ticket Manager; Worrell Named to Post
Aug. 10, 2002
Kathleen Elizabeth "Zibbie" Kerin, who has served the Athletic Department since 1973 and held the position of Ticket Manager since 1990, is retiring August 30, culminating a 30-year service career with the Athletic Department. The announcement was made today by Athletics Director Doug Dickey.
Kerin served as secretary to Bob Woodruff (1973-85) and Doug Dickey (1985-86) before joining the fledgling Development Office in 1986, serving as Assistant Director. She worked on the annual Fund Drive, in the area of donor benefits and in implementing the Development Office's donor database.
"Zibbie Kerin has served the Athletics Department with dedication, class, loyalty and a commitment to excellence," Dickey said. "Working in a number of important capacities, she has been an outstanding ambassador for the Athletic Department and University."
Kerin is a Knoxville native who attended Catholic High School and has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee.
Before coming to the University, she worked for the America Red Cross and for the United States Army in the Protocol Office in the Republic of Panama.
Kerin's husband, Tim, was head trainer at Tennessee from 1977-92 before his death in August 1992.
She has six grown children, Beth Voyles, Susan Key, George Thomas (Bo) Kerin, Amy Kerin, Barbara Ogle and Tara Kerin, and four grandchildren, Taylor Voyles, 11, Morgan Voyles, 9, Joshua Voyles, 7, and Brennan Ogle, 6.
Her replacement is Dara Worrell, an Assistant Athletic Director for Tickets and Business in the Lady Vols athletic program. Kerin will remain as a consultant to UTAD during the transition period.
Dara Worrell Named UT Ticket Manager
Dara Worrell has been named Ticket Manager for the University of Tennessee, effective Sept. 1. She replaces Zibbie Kerin, who retired effective the end of August. Athletics Director Doug Dickey made the announcement today.
"Dara Worrell brings many of the same strengths to this position Zibbie Kerin did," Dickey said. "I don't think we'll miss a beat with her in this position."
Dara Worrell had a nine-year tenure as a full-time staff member at UT and was promoted during the summer of 1998 to assistant athletics director for tickets and business after serving as the ticket/business manager for the previous three seasons. Her duties include the responsibility of tickets/seating for all sports, coordinating summer camp operations and assisting with budget proposals.
Worrell got her start at Tennessee during the 1993-94 season, when she worked as a marketing/promotions intern with the Lady Vols. She also assisted in volleyball promotions and basketball game management. Worrell later served as an administrative intern with the women's athletics department during the 1994-95 season. She was responsible for tickets, assisting with event management and compliance operations.
A 1993 graduate of Tennessee Tech, Worrell earned a bachelor's degree in business administration/marketing. While at Tech, Dara served as a student manager for the women's basketball team, which was coached by her father, Bill. The Cookeville native earned a master's degree from UT in Recreation/Sport Management in August 1994.
