University of Tennessee Athletics
From The Desk of Mike Hamilton
The school year is coming to a close, and we're happy to report that we have 41 student-athletes graduating from the University of Tennessee this month. We wish them well in their future endeavors and thank them for the contributions they have made in their sports, in the university and in our community.
Congratulations to Coach Pat Summitt and her team for an outstanding year. With the talented group of ladies returning and the exciting new recruits coming in, we're looking forward to great things next year. By the start of the next season, we will have premium floor seats for the women's basketball games. More information about this program is available on page 20.
The Coca-Cola Big Orange Caravan is in full swing. It's great to have the opportunity to get out in the communities and meet our fans. We hope you can make it out to one of our events.
Last month, we received approval from the state building commission to develop a master plan for Neyland Stadium. Over the next 15-20 years, we anticipate the stadium will need between $50-100 million in renovations and upgrades such as corridors, bathrooms and concessions. Last month we also announced some changes to our football grandfathered season ticket allocation. It was a hard a decision to make. We continue to be encouraged by the process, and we appreciate the support we have received.
We would like to thank everyone who volunteered with the VASF Fund Drive. Your hard work is helping us raise new money for athletics.
We hope you continue to follow our spring sports as we wind down our seasons and head into postseason play. As always, we appreciate your support of Tennessee athletics.
Expect to Win!
Mike Hamilton
