Trio of Lady Vols Earn SEC Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Following a 2-0 week with wins over a pair of Big Ten opponents, the Southeastern Conference announced on Monday that three Lady Vols earned weekly award honors. Kennedi Rogers was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week, Caroline Kerr earned Co-Setter of the Week honors, and middle blocker Jolene Oddo received Freshman of the Week.
Rogers posted 33 kills over Tennessee's two wins over Illinois and Indiana. The highlight was the victory against Indiana, where the sophomore outside hitter had 19 kills and three blocks. Rogers has tallied double-digit kills in all four matches she has played this season. The Missouri City, Texas, native has begun the year as one of the top hitters in the country ranking second in Division I in both kills per set (5.67) and points per set (6.29). Rogers had double-double outings in her first two matches for Tennessee, including 21 kills in a win over Fairfield to tie her career-high total.
Kerr collects SEC Setter of the Week honors for the seventh time in her collegiate career. Kerr reached 30-plus assists twice last week, with 38 against Illinois and 32 against Indiana. Kerr added 10 digs in the win over Indiana, giving her the 25th double-double of her career. The total ties her with Lily Felts for ninth in program history. Through five matches, Kerr has 169 assists and an 11.27 assist per set average. The fifth year setter's assists per set mark is one of the top in the nation, ranking sixth. Kerr ranks sixth in program history in both career assists (3,428) and assists per set (10.68). One of the top setters in the nation, Kerr ranks fifth among active players in Division I in career assists.
Continuing a strong start to her collegiate career, Oddo brings home her first conference weekly honor. The freshman middle blocker was an important cog at the net in Tennessee's win over Indiana, finishing with a season-best five blocks. The Lady Vols had 13 total blocks in the victory over Indiana, as they limited the Hoosier attack to 36 kills and a .179 hitting percentage. Through five matches, Oddo leads the Lady Vols with 14 blocks, and has recorded two or more blocks in all five matches.
