Kerr Tabbed SEC Setter of the Week for Eighth Time in Career

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Tennessee volleyball setter Caroline Kerr has been named the SEC Co-Setter of the Week. This is the second time this season that Kerr has received conference setter of the week honors, and the eighth time in her career. The announcement comes after a 3-0 week for the Lady Vols, including a road win over then No. 9 Penn State.
This is the third consecutive week that Tennessee has had a player receive a conference weekly award, with UT winning a combined five SEC weekly honors.
Across Tennessee's three wins last week, Kerr stuffed the stat sheet with 103 assists, 26 digs, 15 kills, eight blocks and four aces. The fifth year setter had two double-doubles during the week, giving her 27 in her career. That total moves her to a tie for eighth in program history with Mary Pollmiller (2011-12).
Kerr posted her first double-double in UT's three-set win over USF. Kerr recorded a career-high 10 kills to go along with 29 assists, as the Lady Vols had a .368 hitting percentage in the victory. The Champaign, Illinois, native followed that up with a 42-assist, 13-dig performance in the victory over Penn State. It was the 42nd 40-plus assist match in her career, and third of the season.
Through ten games this season, Kerr has 342 assists and averages 11.03 assists per set. That assist per set average ranks top ten nationally, checking in at eighth overall. Kerr has been a catalyst to Tennessee's early offensive success. Heading into conference play, the Lady Vols lead the nation in kills per set at 15.06, while ranking seventh nationally with a .323 hitting percentage.
