AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 8 Tennessee soccer team secured a 2-2 draw in the second match of SEC play on Friday night at Texas, coming from behind to remain unbeaten in the 2026 season.

The Lady Vols (6-0-2, 1-0-1) opened the contest in familiar fashion, finding the back of the net in the 11^th minute to take a 1-0 lead. A nifty finish by Shae O'Rourke, who notched her third goal of the season, gave Tennessee the advantage. Cora Fry, the lone freshman to start every match for the Lady Vols thus far in 2026, earned the first point of her collegiate career with an assist on the play.

With the opening goal, the Lady Vols have struck first in all eight matches this season. Additionally, Tennessee has scored within the opening 12 minutes in seven of eight matches and within the opening 30 minutes of all eight.

The advantage was short-lived for the Lady Vols. After a disallowed goal minutes after the opener, a quick attacking flurry for the Longhorns yielded two goals in less than 60 seconds around the 27-minute mark, giving Texas a 2-1 lead.

With Tennessee trailing for the first time in 2026, the scoreline held to the halftime break. The Lady Vols emerged from the intermission with attacking intent, quickly mustering multiple chances in front of the Longhorn goal, including an effort by Devin Davis that hit the crossbar.

The positive play paid off in the 68^th minute, as Kylee Simmons nodded home the match's equalizing goal. O'Rourke provided the assist with an inch-perfect cross to the back post. Simmons' team-leading fourth goal of the campaign drew the match level at 2-2.

The attacking mentality continued for Tennessee over the final 20 minutes, which was played a woman up after a Texas red card for violent conduct in the 70^th minute, but the Lady Vols were unable to break the deadlock before the final whistle.

With a 2-2 draw, Tennessee opens SEC play with four of a possible six points on the road. A two-match home stand awaits for the Lady Vols next week at Regal Soccer Stadium, beginning with a Thursday night match up against Mississippi State followed by a Sunday afternoon matinee against No. 4 Vanderbilt.
