Lady Vols Announce Addition of Transfer Setter Matheny to 2026 Roster
May 07, 2026 | Volleyball
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Another addition to the 2026 Tennessee volleyball roster is official, as Indiana transfer setter Mallory Matheny has signed with the Lady Vols.
Â
"Our Tennessee Volleyball program couldn't be more excited to welcome Mallory Matheny to our team", said head coach Eve Rackham Watt. "She is a special talent who will be a huge part of our success. Mallory comes from an elite volleyball background and has won at every level. She is quick, accurate, and ultra-competitive. As a setter, she has the ability to lead and inspire in a way that I know her teammates will love playing with. We have had tremendous success at the setter position, and we believe Mallory fits the mold to continue that tradition and help elevate everything we do on and off the court."
Â
Matheny comes to Rocky Top as one of the top ranked prep setters in the country, where she was ranked as the No. 22 overall recruit in the country by Prep Volleyball. The young setter provided almost 2,000 assists in her high school career and contributed over 500 digs. She prepped at Bishop Hartley High School where she was a four-time all-conference selection. She also helped lead Mintonette Volleyball Club to the 16 Open AAU National Championship in 2024.
Â
Matheny featured in the 2026 Under Armour All-American Game, where she was one of 28 players selected nationally to compete in the prestigious event. Matheny was a two-time OHSVCA All-State honoree and named to the 2025 AVCA High School All-American Watch List. The Columbus, Ohio native, was also recognized with a selection to the JVA National Team.
Â
This adds to an impressive list of transfer additions to the 2026 roster. Jalyn Stout joined the Lady Vols from Coastal Carolina, where she enters the season as the NCAA's all-time leader in career triple doubles. ACC All-Freshman Team selection Kennedi Roders joined from SMU, while Nia Hall joined the squad from South Carolina where she led the Gamecocks in kills in 2025. Raegan Burns is heading to Knoxville after three seasons at Kansas, where she posted over 750 career digs.
