Scott Tabbed for USTA American Collegiate Wildcard Playoffs

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – University of Tennessee women's tennis All-American Katrina Scott has been selected to participate in the American Collegiate Player Wildcard Playoffs, the USTA announced Wednesday.
Six wild card entries into the 2026 US Open (four singles, two doubles) will be awarded via the event, now in its second year. The winners of the four-player men's and women's singles playoff and four-team men's and women's doubles playoff will earn US Open main draw singles and doubles wild cards, respectively, while the men's and women's singles finalists will earn Qualifying wild cards to the US Open, the premier American tennis championship.
"I think this is an amazing opportunity for American players to have the chance to play in a grand slam," Scott said of the playoffs. "The USTA has helped support American athletes tremendously and has really helped guide them into the pro tour."
The playoff, which features the top American-born tennis talent in the collegiate ranks, is set to be held at the USTA National Campus' Collegiate Center June 16-18.
The SEC first-team honoree finished her first collegiate season with a 9-4 singles record, all at the court one position. Seven of her nine singles victories came against ranked opponents and all seven of her ranked wins finished in straight sets.
Against Texas on March 22, she defeated ITA's then-No. 1 ranked singles player, Carmen Herea, in Tennessee's upset win over the then-No. 7 Longhorns, 7-6 (8-6), 6-2. Scott's win was the first singles victory by a Lady Vol over even a national top-three opponent since at least the 2020 dual season.
Scott earned SEC Player of the Week plaudits in the final weekend of the regular season. That honor came after she defeated Ole Miss' No. 18 Emily Welker in dominant fashion, 6-0, 6-2, and was the first off the court in the 4-1 victory over the Rebels on April 9. Two days later, she took down then-No. 26 Cadence Brace, the top-rated player in college tennis per UTR (then-11.52 UTR), in straight sets to seal the upset win over No. 12 LSU on April 11.
An ITA Singles All-American, Scott defeated six top-50 singles opponents, including Arkansas' No. 23 Carolina Gomez Alonso (March 8), Auburn's No. 33 DJ Bennett (March 12), Duke's No. 14 Irina Balus (May 2), as well as the aforementioned Herea, Welker and Brace.
Against her fellow singles All-Americans, Scott compiled a 6-2 record in singles matches.
Scott currently ranks as ITA's No. 11-ranked singles player.
