April 22, 2026 | Women's Basketball
Fatmata "Fats" Janneh (FAT-mott-uh JAN-nuh), who was the leading rebounder and three-point shooter and second-leading scorer at Texas A&M last season, became the sixth player out of the portal to sign an Institutional Financial Aid Agreement (IFAA), Lady Vol head coach Kim Caldwell confirmed on Wednesday.
Â
A 6-foot-2 forward from London, England, Janneh spent two seasons at St. Peter's University in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference before making the move to the SEC in 2025-26. She has averaged 13.6 points and 9.8 rebounds per contest while starting 83 of 85 contests in college and has produced 39 double-doubles. She has one season of eligibility remaining.
Â
Janneh joins previously-announced transfer portal signees in 5-9 guards Avery Mills (Liberty), Naomi White (Northern Arizona) and Rylie Theuerkauf (Georgia), 6-3 forward Harper Peterson (Stanford) and 6-2 forward Zhen Craft (Georgia) in Tennessee's 2026 transfer portal class.
Â
UT also has two incoming freshmen, including 6-1 guard/forward Gabby Minus (Dacula, Ga./Hebron Christian Academy), the No. 64-ranked player in the 2026 SportsCenter NEXT 100 class, and 5-10 guard Irene Oboavwoduo (Manchester, England/Trinity Church of England H.S.), who has a bevy of international experience with several Great Britain national teams and joins Janneh to give the Big Orange two players from England on the roster.
Â
Janneh started all 27 games in her first season at Texas A&M, finishing second on the squad in scoring (11.4 ppg.) and first in rebounding (9.7 rpg.). The rebound mark ranked fifth in the SEC, while her 7.04 defensive boards per contest stood second. She put up 12.7 ppg. and 9.3 rpg. in SEC play while posting shoot percentages of 45.2, 40.0 and 78.0. The junior scored in double figures 18 times and carded 12 double-doubles, including eight vs. league foes. She tied for the team lead with 29 three-pointers, and her percentage (.330) ranked first for A&M as well.
Â
Prior to making the move to College Station, Janneh averaged 14.6 points and 9.8 rebounds in two seasons at St. Peter's in Jersey City, New Jersey, hitting 62 treys while starting 56 of 58 games. She earned All-MAAC First Team honors and was a five-time MAAC Player of the Week in 2024-25. She was named to the MAAC All-Rookie team in 2023-24.
Â
As a sophomore, Janneh averaged 18.2 points, 11.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.7 steals per contest and led NCAA Division I in defensive rebounds (282). She was the only player in the MAAC to average a double-double, scoring in double figures on 26 occasions, recording 19 double-doubles and tallying 20 or more points in 11 different games for the Peacocks.

Janneh averaged 11.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest as a freshman in 2023-24. She scored in double figures 17 times and had four games with 20 points or more. Additionally, she notched 10 games with 10 or more rebounds and posted eight double-doubles.
Â
A product of Barking, a town in East London, Janneh attended Barking Abbey School Sixth Form. In her basketball pursuits, she was a two-time WEABL All-Star and two-time WNBL All-Star and earned the Hoopsfix All-Star Award.
