BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tennessee redshirt senior Cade Gray was selected as the SEC Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced Tuesday. The Vol standout from Ocala, Florida, was victorious in the pole vault this past weekend at the Virginia Tech Challenge after clearing a lifetime-best of 5.69 meters (18-8).
Gray's performance ranks tied for second in the SEC and eighth in the NCAA this season. Additionally, his performance is tied for third on UT's all-time list in the event.
The veteran leads a group of five vaulters who became the first quintet in NCAA history to clear 18 feet or higher in the men's pole vault during the same season.
