Baseball VFL Jim Worthington Celebrates 100th Birthday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Former Tennessee baseball player Jim Worthington turned 100 years old on Tuesday. Worthington is UT's oldest living letterwinner in any sport.
The longtime VFL was a part of the Volunteer's baseball team from 1947-49. Worthington played catcher for the Big Orange, earning varsity letters in 1948 and 1949.
Born in Sheffield, Alabama on Aug. 26, 1925, Worthington now resides in Norcross, Georgia, where he proudly supports all of Tennessee's athletic programs.
The Tennessee baseball team welcomed Worthington back to campus to throw out the ceremonial first pitch against South Carolina on May 18, 2024.
