#5/6 Lady Vols Register Fourth Straight Shutout Win After Defeating LMU, 3-0

LOS ANGELES, Calif – The No. 5/6 Tennessee soccer team registered its fourth straight shutout win after defeating LMU, 3-0, Saturday night at Sullivan Field.Â
Throughout the four-match span to start the season, UT has outscored its opponents 15-0. Additionally, the 4-0-0 start from the Lady Vols marks the best start in the Joe Kirt era.
Shae O'Rourke continues to carry her momentum over each game and secured her fifth score of the season, converting on a penalty kick to get the Big Orange on the board. O'Rourke now holds a 1.25 goals-per-game average and has secured three game-winners.Â
Jenna Stayart also knocked in her first goal of the season and has four total points on the year.Â
UT broke through in the 19th minute after Reese Mattern drew a penalty in the box. O'Rourke, who took the penalty kick, successfully converted in in the bottom left of the net.Â
The Lions then had their chance to level it up with a penalty kick in the 33rd minute, but LMU's Callan Harrington missed it left.Â
Tennessee's second goal of the night to extend its lead came in the 62nd minute after an own goal from LMU.Â
In the 81st minute, Harrington put one on frame for LMU but Cayden Norris was able to make the save and secure the shutout for the Lady Vols.Â
With a little over a minute left to play, Luciana Latino found Jenna Stayart in the box who left-footed it in the back of the net to secure the 3-0 win.Â
Throughout the match, UT outshot LMU 19-2 and put eight shots on target while allowing just one from the Lions.Â
JJ Hoover started in goal for LMU and logged six saves.Â
O'Rourke, Stayart, Keaton Mitchell and Alivia Stott each created at least one chance for the Lady Vols.Â
