
Lady Vols Tally Six National Qualifiers To Wrap NCAA East Prelims

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Tennessee track & field program earned six more qualifying marks to the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships on Saturday, with the Lady Vols tallying six top-12 performances on the fourth and final day of the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds in Jacksonville, Florida.
True freshman Donna Douglas led off Saturday's action in the fourth flight of the women's discus and punched her first ticket to the national championships with a third-round toss of 54.56 meters (179-0). She was one of two freshmen to qualify out of the East Region, placing 10th overall in the regional competition.
On the track, the Lady Vol 4x100-meter relay secured an automatic bid to nationals with their third-place finish in Heat 1. The quartet of Milan Fields, Faith Okwose, Elo Blessing Okpah and Cydney Wright got the baton around in 43.70 seconds, placing 11th overall in the East Region.
The Big Orange saw a pair of short hurdlers qualify out of Saturday's 100-meter hurdles quarterfinal. Myreanna Bebe earned her second trip to outdoor nationals and first as a Lady Vol with a heat victory in 12.89 seconds, while Kiara Smith turned in a time of 12.94 to finish fifth overall and second in her heat – automatically advancing to Eugene.
In the women's 400-meter dash quarterfinal, Lady Vol junior and 2024 Olympian Javonya Valcourt earned her third-consecutive individual berth to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The Nassau, Bahamas, product turned in a time of 51.16 to place second in her heat and fifth in the region.
The Lady Vols capped the night with a season-best in the women's 4x400-meter relay, winning their heat and placing second overall with a time of 3:27.76. The group of Cydney Wright, Esther Joseph, Javonya Valcourt and Ka'Myya Haywood etched their names in the record book as the No. 3 quartet in program history.
