#4 Tennessee Advances All Three Boats to AB Semifinals on Opening Day of NCAA Championships

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – During Friday's opening heat races at the 2025 NCAA Championships, the fourth-ranked Tennessee rowing program advanced all three of its NCAA crews to Saturday's AB semifinals for the second consecutive season.
The Lady Vol 1V8+ opened the day at Lake Mercer for UT with heat victory over a trio of top-15 teams, crossing the line in 6:12.603 to outpace No. 7 Rutgers, No. 12 California and 15th-ranked Dartmouth. The first-place finish earned Tennessee's first varsity eight crew a spot in the AB semifinals, to be held Saturday morning.
Tennessee's 2V8+ boat posted a strong second-place effort, finishing its heat race behind No. 6 Princeton with a time of 6:21.011—comfortably ahead of No. 9 Michigan (6:25.774) and 14th-ranked UCF (6:34.631). Their performance secured another spot in the AB semifinal round.
In the 1V4+ heat race, the Lady Vols placed third behind top-ranked Stanford and No. 9 Michigan, navigating through a competitive field that consisted of four total top-10 teams. Tennessee's time of 7:04.383 was enough to advance to the AB semifinals, crossing ahead of both No. 10 Virginia and 16th-ranked Indiana.
Saturday's AB semifinals for the Lady Vols will begin with the 1V8+ at 8:36 a.m., followed by the 2V8+ at 9:24 a.m. and the 1V4+ at 10:12/10:24 a.m.
