KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Catherine Aulia and Maeve Thornton of the Tennessee women's tennis team were named to the 2025 Academic All-District Women's Tennis Teams by College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday afternoon.
The pair became the sixth and seventh Lady Volunteers to earn CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District honors, respectively. This is the second time in program history UT has had multiple honorees in the same season. In 2023, the pair of Esther Adeshina and Rebeka Mertena earned the honor.
Aulia earns All-District acclaim after holding a 3.81 GPA through her junior year and majoring in Kinesiology. The Rosebery, Australia, native has been excellent on-court for the Lady Vols this season, earning First Team All-SEC honors and being named to the 2024 SEC Community Service Team. Aulia has been ranked as high as No. 19 in singles and No. 23 in doubles, alongside Elza Tomase. Aulia's highest-ranked victory came over No. 17 Julia Garcia Ruiz from Oklahoma in a 6-4, 6-7(6), 7-4 affair, clinching the match in 4-3 fashion for the Lady Vols.
During her inaugural year as a Lady Vol, Thornton has made an immediate impact. She owns a 4.0 GPA in nutrition and has been a steady force for UT in doubles. The pairing of Thornton and Vanesa Suarez has been elite, fending off nine foes together this season.
Aulia, Thornton and the rest of the Lady Volunteers will face No. 2 Texas A&M in the NCAA Championships Quarterfinals on Thursday at 5 p.m. ET.
