GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The fifth-ranked Tennessee men's track & field program put on an excellent display on the opening day of the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational, setting five marks that rank top 10 in the country this outdoor season. This included the No. 1 time in the NCAA in the men's 400-meter hurdles, as senior Jevon Williams won the invite section in a personal-best 48.77 seconds.
Williams' time of 48.77 ranks first on the 2025 NCAA Division I list and eighth on the World Athletics toplist for 2025. Additionally, the Pompano Beach, Florida, native moved up four spots to No. 3 on Tennessee's all-time ledger in the event, trailing Clement Ducos' school record by less than half a second.
The Vols had two additional strong performances in the men's 400-meter hurdles from freshman Saad Hinti and junior Harry Barton. Hinti's time of 49.25 ranks third in the NCAA and 17th in the world for 2025, while Barton's mark sits No. 8 on the NCAA Division I list.
