Lady Vols Fall To No. 4 South Carolina In SEC Championship Match Play Quarterfinals, 3-2

BELLEAIR, Fla. - The Tennessee women's golf team concluded competition at the SEC Championships Thursday, falling in the match play quarterfinals to No. 4 South Carolina, 3-2.
Sofie Engeseth and Martina Lopez-Lanchares registered wins in their matches for the Big Orange.
After being down one through eight holes, Engeseth birdied the ninth hole to level the match and then took the lead on hole 13 and extended it on hole 16. South Carolina's Maylis Lamoure then responded on hole 17 to get the match to within one before the final hole, but Engeseth pulled out a clutch par on the 18th to secure a point for the Lady Vols.
The Gamecocks put up their first point after Louise Rydqvist defeated Manassanan Chotikabhukkana, 6-4. South Carolina then pulled ahead 2-1 after Sophia Burnett won 3&2 over Bailey Davis.
Carolina went on to clinch the match with Eila Galitsky's 3&2 win over freshman Kyra Van Kan.
Due to South Carolina clinching the win before the fifth match concluded, Lopez-Lanchares defeated Hannah Darling, 1&3 to make the final score, 3-2.
The Lady Vols will now begin preparations for NCAA competition. The NCAA Selection Show is set for Wednesday, April 23 at 1 p.m. ET and will air on Golf Channel. NCAA Regionals are scheduled to take place from May 5 through May 7.
