
Women’s Tennis Central: #9 Tennessee at #71 Missouri and #13 Vanderbilt

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The ninth-ranked Tennessee women's tennis team is slated to travel to No. 71 Missouri and No. 13 Vanderbilt for the last regular-season weekend of conference play. The Lady Vols will face the Tigers at 2 p.m. ET on Friday, before playing the Commodores at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday.
Last weekend, Tennessee split its matches, defeating No. 34 Florida, 5-2, before falling to No. 9 Auburn, 4-2. In the victory against the Gators, freshmen Saray Yli-Piipari and Elim Yan secured singles wins for the Big Orange. Yan logged her first SEC victory over Reagan Parker in a 7-6(4), 6-3 contest. Yli-Piipari added her fourth-career conference triumph versus Emily De Oliveria, 6-4, 6-3.
Elza Tomase produced a flawless weekend in singles play, knocking off No. 21 Rachel Gailis and No. 3 DJ Bennett. On Friday against Galilis, the senior grabbed a 6-3, 6-3 victory, before downing Bennett in a 6-0, 6-1 affair. This season, Tomase has registered seven wins over ranked foes.
Tennessee has knocked off 12 ranked opponents thus far, defeating No. 15 Ohio State, No. 15 Pepperdine, No.4 Stanford, No. 67 Kentucky, No. 71 Ole Miss, No. 25 South Carolina, No. 70 Arkansas, No. 12 Oklahoma, No. 25 Alabama, No. 64 Mississippi State, No. 15 Texas and No. 34 Florida. Six of those results are against top-25 foes, including five over top-15 teams.
A PEEK AT THE CHARTS: The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on April 9 that the squad is No. 9 in the tenth poll of 2025. The following members of the team were ranked in the fourth spring ITA individual poll posted on April 9, 2025:

SCOUTING THE TIGERS: Tennessee owns a 9-2 edge over Missouri in the all-time series. Five of the Big Orange's wins have come in Columbia, Mo. The last time the two teams met was last season in Columbia when the Lady Vols posted a 4-0 sweep on April 5, 2024. The Tigers own a 12-12 overall record and a 2-11 conference mark so far in 2025.

SCOUTING THE COMMODORES: Tennessee possesses a 37-29 edge over the Commodores, with nine of those victories coming in Nashville, Tenn. The two teams most recently met last season in Knoxville, Tenn., when the Lady Vols produced a 4-0 sweep on April 14, 2024. Vanderbilt holds a 16-5 overall ledger and a 9-4 conference record on the year.
