RALEIGH, N.C. – Tennessee sophomore Christian Parker made the return trip to his home state a memorable one with a first-place outing in the men's 400-meter dash, highlighting UT's second and final day at the Raleigh Relays. The High Point, North Carolina, native clocked a personal-best time of 46.17 seconds for the win at NC State's Paul Derr Track & Field Facility.
Parker's time currently ranks fifth on the 2025 NCAA outdoor list, and he is one of four Vols ranked in the nation's top 10 early in the outdoor season. Teammates Jevon Williams (45.90), Saad Hinti (46.40) and Harry Barton (46.47) sit third, seventh and eighth, respectively, with their marks set last week at the USF Alumni Invitational.
The women's distance squad was well represented under the Friday night lights in Raleigh, with sophomore Jillian Candelino earning Tennessee's best finish in her first career outdoor 5,000-meter run. The Jacksonville, Florida, native posted a time of 16:08.36, placing 28th at the meet and establishing herself as the No. 9 performer in Lady Vol history.
A pair of freshmen led the way for Tennessee in the women's 1,500-meter, with rookies Rebecca O'Keefe and Tula Fawbush finishing almost simultaneously with their respective times of 4:26.18 and 4:26.42. The duo each improved their high school personal-bests during Friday's race and finished fifth and sixth in their heat.
Three Lady Vols capped the night in the 10,000-meter run, with super seniors Msgana Araya (34:48.54) and Callie Tucker (34:54.99) each notching new personal-bests. Sophomore Summer Schuster also competed in her first career 10k and finished with a time of 35:22.37.
