February 04, 2025 | Swimming & Diving, Men's Swimming & Diving
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After another strong performance this past weekend, Tennessee diving's Bennett Greene was recognized on the SEC weekly honors for the sixth time this season.
Â
Greene was tabbed the SEC Diver of the Week, marking his fourth time winning the award this season. He's also been named freshman of the week on two occasions. With his sixth recognition, Greene tied former national champion Colin Zeng for the most weekly honors in a single season in program history.
Â
The Knoxville, Tenn., native swept the springboard events for the fourth meet in a row and fifth time this season, as the Vols cruised to a victory at Duke. Greene finished first on 1-meter (352.13) and 3-meter (397.95) against the Blue Devils for wins 11 and 12 on the year.
Â
On 1-meter, he posted three 60-point efforts to get the victory, but his performance on 3-meter was the highlight of the meet. Greene went for 60-plus points on five of his six attempts and finished the list with back-to-back 70-point dives. He nailed his Reverse 1 1/2 Somersault 3 1/2 Twist Free for 76.13 points to end the competition and secure the victory.
Â
For the season, Greene's top score ranks third in the SEC on 1-meter (386.93), fourth on 3-meter (412.85) and 14th on platform (343.15). He's the league's highest scoring freshman on both springboards.
Â
Tennessee diving is no stranger to SEC honors, as diving coach Dave Parrington has produced numerous NCAA and SEC champions as well as All-Americans throughout his career on Rocky Top. A Vol has won SEC Diver of the Week at least four times in a single season six times since the 2016-17 campaign under Parrington's watch.
Â
Up next, UT swimming & diving sets its sights on postseason, beginning with a trip to Athens, Georgia, for the SEC Championships on Feb. 17-22. After that, the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships will be March 9-12 followed by the women's NCAA Championships on March 19-22 and the men's championships on March 26-29.
