Lady Vols Complete Day Three of ITA Sectionals

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee women's tennis team saw three entries compete at the ITA South Sectional Saturday, with one doubles pairing earning a victory in the consolation bracket semifinals.
Vanesa Suarez and Saray Yli-Piipari combined for a straight-sets win over Louisville's Otis/Persypkina duo. The Lady Vol duo earned a 6-3, 6-4 win to advance to the consolation bracket doubles final.
The Lady Vol tandem will compete in the consolation bracket final, tomorrow at 9 a.m., facing Vanderbilt's Pearce/Yamakita team.
No. 34 Leyla Britez Risso played in the quarterfinal round of the main singles draw, ultimately falling to Florida's Gabia Paskauskas.
Although she missed a chance to clinch an NCAA Individual Championship qualifying spot today, as the four singles semifinalists all earned bids, she will have one more chance to clinch her spot tomorrow. The winner of the Sunday contest between Britez Risso and Vanderbilt's Valeria Ray secures an automatic Qualification to the national championship field.
