KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Two Tennessee swimming & diving athletes were recognized by the conference after dominating performances over the weekend against the Georgia Bulldogs.
Â
Camille Spink was awarded as SEC Swimmer of the Week for the Lady Vols. This marks her third conference accolade this season. For the Vols, Bennett Greene was selected as SEC Freshman of the Week, securing his fifth league honor.Â
Â
Spink, the sophomore from Haymarket, Va., won all three of her individual events and helped the Lady Vols 400 free relay to victory against UGA. During the 400 relay, Spink clocked a 47.33 leadoff split, which led the relay to victory (3:13.46). Sweeping the sprint freestyles, she posted times of 21.46 (50 free), 46.94 (100 free) and 1:42.78 (200 free). Her 200 free effort marked the fastest time in the SEC this season and moved her into seventh in the country.
Â
Greene, the Knoxville native, took over the meet, sweeping the springboards and posting his 10th win this season. After getting down early in the competition, he rattled off three 60-point dives in his final fourth attempts to secure his fifth straight win on the 1-meter (354.90). He took that momentum with him into the 3-meter event, where he posted the highest scoring dive in four of the six rounds to complete the sweep (387.00).
Â
Tennessee concludes the regular season with a showdown on the road against Duke on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. Friday's session will begin at 4 pm, while the Saturday slate will be at 10 a.m.
