
Vols, Lady Vols Conclude Strong Weekend At Orange & Purple Invite

CLEMSON, S.C. – Tennessee track & field wrapped up the Orange & Purple Invite on Saturday with two event titles and a trio of performances that ranked inside the program's all-time top 10 lists, concluding a strong weekend for the program inside the Clemson Indoor Track & Field Complex.
Grant Campbell and Cade Gray took home event titles in the men's high jump and pole vault, respectively, while Andrew Brown and Javonya Valcourt each posted notable marks in the men's and women's 300-meter dash competitions. - Tennessee picked up a pair of victories in the vertical jumps on Saturday. Sophomore standout Grant Campbell set the stage with a clearance of 2.16m (7-1) to win the men's high jump for the second week in a row, and redshirt junior Cade Gray wrapped up the meet with a win in the men's pole vault after clearing 5.52m (18-1.25) on his first attempt at the bar. Campbell's mark tied his indoor PR, ranking 10th in school history indoors and ninth in the SEC this season.
- Lady Vol junior Javonya Valcourt was the top collegian in the women's 300-meter dash, finishing third in the event behind two pros with a personal-best mark of 37.32 seconds. Her time ranks third in Tennessee history and is the fastest PB performance by a Lady Vol since Felicia Brown ran a mark of 37.12 in 2016.
- In the men's 300-meter, redshirt junior Andrew Brown stormed to a time of 33.22 seconds to finish second in the field and etch his name at No. 6 on Tennessee's all-time top 10 list. His mark made him the third fastest Vol in the event since the turn of the century, behind Emmanuel Bynum's school record 32.83 in 2024 and Nathan Strother's 33.16 in 2018.
- Additionally, Vol junior Harry Barton made his Tennessee debut with a top-5 finish in the 300-meter dash – clocking in at 33.61 to win his heat and place fourth overall.
- Junior thrower John Bruder muscled a sixth-round heave of 18.47m (60-7.25) in the men's shot put – setting a PR and placing second overall at the Orange & Purple Invite.
- UT was paced in the 200-meter dash by Brianna White and Javonte' Harding on the women's and men's side, respectively. White won her heat in a personal-best 23.50 to place fourth overall, and Harding stopped the clock at 21.10 to win his heat and finish fifth in the event.
- Tennessee opened Saturday's action with five Lady Vols running the women's 3,000-meter, led by sophomore Summer Schuster's effort of 9:39.66 in her season opener. Msgana Araya (9:45.13), Haley Loewe (9:45.92), Lauren Rutlin (9:48.41) and Emma Kate Hamby (10:04.47) each tabbed 3k PRs as well.
- VFL Jacious Sears concluded her fantastic opening weekend placing second in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 23.28 – ranking 14th on the 2025 world list.
- Tennessee athletes combined to break or tie 12 indoor personal records on Saturday at the Orange & Purple Invite.
