King Named to SEC Community Service Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tennessee volleyball senior libero Ashllyn King was named to the 2024 SEC Community Service Team, the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon.

King owns 27 hours of community service during her time on Rocky Top. She gained 20 hours during her trip to South Africa and Botswana this past summer as a member of Tennessee's VOLeaders Academy.

While abroad, King helped organize and run a festival in partnership with Women in Sport Botswana and the Elite Basketball Academy. She also served with Egoli Squash Youth Empowerment and Panorama Football Club, which both provide access to sports while also helping them develop critical life skills and provide educational support. King ended her time on the trip by learning and playing adaptive tennis with kids at the Ithembelihle School, which supports children who are physically disabled.

King has also consistently served at UT's annual Halloween family event for campus staff called Voloween, and she has participated in Read to Lead, a program focused on encourages kids at local elementary schools to continue reading and investing in their education. She is a two-time member of the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll.

The Murfreesboro, Tenn., native has started in each match this season and boasts 125 digs, 78 assists and two aces. She recorded a season-best 23 digs in UT's win over Western Michigan on Sept. 19.
