MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Tennessee women's tennis team won seven matches on day two of the ITA Ohio Valley Regional.

Highlighting the day were Tenika McGiffin, Rebeka Mertena, and Kaitlin Staines who won two matches to advance to the round of 16.

McGiffin won her first match in two sets (6-3, 6-1) over IU's Annabelle Andrinopoulous. She followed up her first match with a three set (3-6, 6-2, 6-2) win over Cincinnati's Emma Miceli.

Mertena won both of her matches in two sets. She opened the day with a 6-2, 6-0 win over ETSU's Maria Carvajal and followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Indiana's Lexi Kubas.

Staines defeated Xavier's Rachel Reichenbach two sets (6-2, 7-5) and followed with a three set (6-4, 6-7 (8), 7-6(6)) win over Raquel Amaro of ETSU to close the night.

McGiffin, Mertena, and Staines will compete in the round of 16 on Saturday at 10 a.m.
