LAS VEGAS -- No. 24 Tennessee continued its hot streak Saturday with a 4-0 victory over 14th-ranked Kansas at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The win marked UT's first over a Top-15 opponent since defeating No. 9 Auburn in the SEC Tournament on April 19, 2012.
"Our team is having so much fun competing right now," Head coach Alison Ojeda said. "It's just a fantastic vibe within the group. We have great energy all across the board. Our team deserves to have a celebration lunch, so that is what we will do. This evening we will get focused on another very tough match tomorrow versus UNLV."
The Volunteers (12-1) dropped the first match in doubles but quickly picked up wins on Courts 1 and 2 to clinch the doubles point.
Seniors Brittany Lindl and Eve Repic got things going with a 6-2 victory. Sadie Hammond and Gabby Schuck sealed the deal with a 6-4 win, giving UT an early 1-0 lead over the Jayhawks.
The Vols never looked back, rolling through singles to earn their eighth shutout of the season.
Freshman Ariadna Riley kicked things off with a win against Janet Koch, 6-2, 6-2. Schuck breezed past Tatiana Nikolaeva on Court 6, 6-3, 6-0. Freshman Johanna Silva clinched the match for Tennessee with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Maria Toran Ribes.
The Vols return to action tomorrow to face 33rd-ranked UNLV at 1 p.m. ET to conclude UT's non-conference slate.
