KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Volunteers continued their dominant weekend performance on Sunday morning with a decisive 4-1 win over Wake Forest at Goodfriend Tennis Center.
The Vols gained momentum early in the match by winning the doubles point over the Demon Deacons. Sophomore Sadie Hammond and redshirt freshman Gabby Schuck held off a late surge by Emma Davis and Chandler Carter to win, 6-4.
The senior duo of Brittany Lindl and Eve Repic faced an early 4-1 deficit but stormed by to take the match and doubles point for UT, beating Kimmy Guerin and Anna Ulyashchenko, 7-5.
In singles, Hammond picked up the win against Wake Forest's Kimmy Guerin, the No. 33-ranked player in the nation, with a commanding 6-4, 6-3 outcome. Lindl earned her third victory of the weekend with a 7-6 (4), 6-4 match against 61st-ranked Emma Davis.
After dropping the first set of her match, Repic battled back to down Anna Ulyashchenko, 5-7, 7-5, 6-4, on court 3 to clinch the match for the Vols.
Tennessee will play Chattanooga at 5:30 p.m. to wrap up the weekend.
