NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee posted six top-three finishes and one facility record at the Commodore Invitational at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Complex on Saturday.
Christian Coleman set the facility record in the 60m dash as he finished in 6.54 seconds in the final after posting a 6.56 mark in the prelims. Coleman, the third place finisher, at last year's indoor NCAA Championship was competing in the 60m for the first time this year.
UT set 23 personal bests over the two-day Commodore Invitational. One of which was by Mustaqeem Williams as he took second place in the 60m with a time of 6.64 seconds in the finals and a 6.69 mark in the prelims. Both of those marks surpass his previous career best of 6.73 which he set last weekend at the Indiana-Tennessee Dual. Williams moves into a tie for seventh place on the school's career leaderboard. Coleman and Williams recorded the top two times in the NCAA so far this season.
Shania Collins took third place in the women's side of the 60m dash with a time of 7.35, setting a new personal record a day after she won the 200m dash in 23.70. Maia McCoy finished in fourth place with a new PR of 7.40.
Ari Cogdell took second place in the 400m race as he finished in 46.89, the fifth-fastest 400m time in school history. It is also the third-fastest time in the country so far this season. Cogdell was joined in the race by Joshua McLemore (10th, 48.68) and Darryl Harris (11th, 48.79) who each won their heats and set personal bests.
Stamatia Scarvelis finished third in the women's shot put with a throw of 16.31m (53-6.25) as she set a new PR and moved into fifth place on the school's all-time list of PR's. That also moves Scarvelis into a tie for the fifth-best mark in the country so far this year. She has bettered her mark and set a new indoor PR at every meet so far this season.
The women's 4x400m team finished out the event for Tennessee with one of the most impressive performances with a first place finish in 3:39.29. Freshman Brooklynn Broadwater ran a strong third leg to give the Vols the lead and Maia McCoy extended it on the final leg to bring home the victory.
Tennessee had some early session PR's on the track as Broadwater won her 400m heat handily with a time of 55.68. Drew Kelley also won his 800m heat finishing in a time of 1:59.90.
The men's mile saw Zach Long (4:06.63), Adam Johnston (4:19.40) and Chase Hilton (4:25.82) all collect new personal records.
Jessica Rizor and Peighton Meske competed in the 3000m as Rizor finished in 10:09.70 while Meske set a new PR by crossing the line in 10:27.95.
