Bush Earns First-Career Win in Rout of Green Bay

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Lexi Overstreet's walk-off 3-run homer in the bottom of the fifth gave No. 16 Tennessee its second run-rule victory of the day as the Vols routed Green Bay, 10-1, at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium on Friday evening.
Freshman pitcher Bria Bush earned her first-career win after allowing just one unearned run and two hits in four innings of work. Overstreet led the Vols at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBIs.
Despite the dominant performance, it was the Phoenix (4-8) who struck first with a run in the top of the second inning after an error allowed Katelyn Huemmer to score from second base. UT quickly responded, however, putting up a 6-spot in the bottom half of the frame.
Shaliyah Geathers started things off with an RBI single and Rainey Gaffin drove in a run the hard way after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Brooke Vines drove in the third run of the inning with a sacrifice fly and Aubrey Leach followed that with an RBI single. A pair of bases-loaded walks by Megan Geer and Geathers completed the scoring in the inning and put Tennessee up 6-1.
The Vols tacked on another run in the bottom of the third as Overstreet came in to score on an RBI double off the wall in left-center field by Gaffin. Overstreet reached one batter earlier with her second triple of the season. The senior from Suwanee, Ga., ended the game two innings later with a blast into the night to give the Big Orange their 13th win of the season. It was Overstreet's team-leading fourth home run of the season.
Nine players had hits and six posted RBIs in the game as the Vols scored double-digit runs for the seventh time this year.
The Big Orange are back in action tomorrow to take on St. John's at 12:30 p.m. Opponent and start time for Game 2 tomorrow will be determined following UT's contest against the Red Storm. Game 1 vs. St. John's can be heard live on WNML AM 990.
