12 Vols Named Indoor All-Americans
March 14, 2016 | Women's Basketball

NEW ORLEANS -- After Tennessee's successful showing at the 2016 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships, 12 Vols were announced as First Team All-Americans by the USTFCCCA on Monday.
The Tennessee men finished third and the UT women finished seventh, marking the first time since 2008 that Tennessee's men's and women's squads had posted top 10 finishes at the same NCAA Indoor Championships.
Christian Coleman earned three First Team All-American honors after winning the men's 200 meters (20.55), taking second in the 60 meters (6.52) and placing fifth with UT's men's 4x400 relay (3:31.17).
Felicia Brown earned two First Team All-American honors after winning the women's 200 meters (22.47) and placing fifth with Tennessee's women's 4x400 relay (3:31.17).
With Coleman's and Brown's national titles, Tennessee became the first school in NCAA Indoor Track and Field history to win both men's 200 meters and the women's 200 meters at the same championship meet. The 200 meters became an NCAA Indoor Championships event in 1988.
Nathan Strother earned two First Team All-American honors. He finished second in the men's 400 meters (46.28) and took fifth with the men's 4x400 relay.
Cassie Wertman took second place in the women's shot put (17.68 meters, 58-0.25), Chelsea Blaase took third in the women's 5,000 meters (15:42.47) and Cameron Brown placed third in the men's weight throw (23.54 meters, 77-2.75) to earn individual First Team All-American accolades.
Ari Cogdell and Antonio Carter garnered First Team All-American honors afer running the first and third legs, respectively, of Tennessee's men's 4x400. Lenysse Dyer, Felecia Majors and Layla White were named First Team All-Americans as they were the first, second and third legs of the women's 4x400.
