NASHVILLE, Tenn. --Following a scoreless draw at Mississippi State on Friday, the Volunteers cap off their two-game road trip on Sunday with a trip to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt at 5 p.m. ET. on the SEC Network.
Tennessee (5-1-4, 1-1-1 SEC) remained unbeaten on the road after its tie in Starkville, making its record 1-0-3 away from Knoxville this season. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Julie Eckel made seven saves against the Bulldogs and earned her conference-leading seventh shutout of the season.
The Vols are 9-10-2 all-time against their in-state rivals and will look to avenge a 2-0 loss to Vanderbilt (5-5-1, 1-2 SEC) last year. Despite last season's loss, the Big Orange has had success recently against the Commodores, posting a 3-1-1 record in the past five meetings.
The `Dores are coming off a 3-2 loss at home to No. 9 Florida on Friday night and will attempt to get back to .500 in SEC play with a win. They are led by the duo of Simone Charley and Lydia Simmons, who both have nine points this season.
Friday's game will air live on SEC Network/WatchESPN at 5 p.m. ET, marking the second straight week the Vols will be on live television. Tennessee is back home for its next game, as Georgia comes to town on Friday, Oct. 2.
