KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee women's head golf coach Judi Pavon has announced the hiring of Mandy Moore to the position of assistant coach. Moore joins the women's golf staff following a two-year stretch as an assistant golf professional.
"I am thrilled that Mandy will be joining our program," Pavon said. "She is going to be a great addition to the team. Her background as a player and coach will make for an easy transition and she will immediately be able to help our program maintain our high standards on and off the course. I'm looking forward to August when the players will meet her and we will begin a new season."
Moore was a standout golfer at Wake Forest University, one of the top Division I programs in the nation, and will join the program with a wealth of collegiate and professional experience.
"I'm very much looking forward to joining the team at Tennessee and working with Coach Pavon," Moore said. "I appreciate the opportunity Coach has given me to get back into coaching, and I plan to do whatever I can to help the team continue to excel on and off the golf course.
"The team is coming off of a great spring season and I know they are looking forward to carrying that momentum into the fall. Coach Pavon has put together a talented group, and I love that the athletic department at Tennessee is fully supportive of every program there."
For the past two years, Moore has been serving as an assistant golf professional at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club where she was a private instructor and hosted numerous golf academies and member clinics.
Prior to that, Moore was the head women's golf coach at Carson-Newman University from 2010-13. There, Moore hosted two tournaments and led the Eagles to the 2011 South Atlantic Conference Team Championship, which they won.
From 2009 to 2010, Moore was a graduate assistant coach at Eastern Kentucky University, where she earned her M.S. of Sports Administration. She was also an external relations intern for EKU during that time.
As a player, Moore lettered at Wake Forest from 2004-07, while also earning her B.A. in Communication. During her time there, she earned NGCA Honorable Mention All-American honors in 2006 and 2007. She was named to the All-ACC Golf Team those same years, and was GolfWeek Third Team All-American in 2007.
Following her collegiate career, Moore played in the pro ranks on the Duramed Futures Tour from 2007 to 2008. She play in 11 events as a professional.
Moore is a LPGA Teaching & Club Professional Member and served as a member for the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA). She was also on the NGCA Division II Al-American and Regional Selection Committees in 2012 and 2013.
