POSTGAME NOTES
THE SERIES
- The 49 points scored by Vandy are the fewest they've scored in a UT-VU match-up in Nashville since Jan. 18, 1976 when UT defeated Vandy 96-27.
- It's only the fourth-time that Vanderbilt has failed to score 50 points in the series.
- This marked the 73rd meeting between the two schools. UT holds a 64-9 record in the series and a 25-7 mark in Music City.
- The Lady Vols are now on an eight game winning streak.
- The Lady Vols now have a 499-76 record vs. SEC opponents, including 346-49 in the regular season.
- UT's win is its ninth straight vs. an SEC team.
- Coach Holly Warlick is 4-1 as head coach vs. Vandy.
- The Lady Vols are now 4-2 in their last six visits to Memorial Gymnasium.
FOR STARTERS
- Today's starters: Bashaara Graves, Cierra Burdick, Isabelle Harrison, Andraya Carter, Jordan Reynolds.
- Graves and Reynolds are the only two that have started every game this season.
- This is the third straight game that the Lady Vols have used this line-up. They are now 4-0 with the group.
- UT controlled the jump ball for the ninth time this season.
- Cierra Burdick scored the first points of the game with a jumper.
OFF THE BENCH
- The first Lady Vols off the bench were Ariel Massengale and Nia Moore
- Alexa Middleton was the third Lady Vol off the bench.
- With 9:23 left in the first half, Jaime Nared entered the game.
- Kortney Dunbar made an appearance with under four minutes to play in the half.
STRONG DEFENSE
- For the seventh time in the eight-game win streak, Tennessee held an opponent to less than 55 points.
- Vanderbilt's 49 points were the fewest by a Lady Vols' SEC foe since Tennessee beat Missouri, 84-39, on Jan. 10, 2013.
- In the first half, VU was 1-for-5 on attempted lay-ups. The Lady Vols allowed VU just six field goals on 23 attempts.
- It was the fourth time this season that UT has held an opponent to under 20 points in the first half.
- The 17 first half points by VU is the lowest total by a UT SEC opponent since Mississippi St. scored 13 on Feb. 16, 2012.
- Twenty-two of the Lady Vols' 39 rebounds came defensively.
- Andraya Carter took her third charge of the season with 3:50 left in the game.
DOUBLE DIGIT SUCCESS
- Four Lady Vols finished the game with 10-plus points, including Cierra Burdick, Andraya Carter, Jordan Reynolds and Ariel Massengale.
- Cierra Burdick was the first player in the game to earn a double-digit score and finished the game with 10 points and an additional seven rebounds.
- Andraya Carter was the second player of the game to reach at least 10 points. She earned a career-high 19 points and tallied four rebounds and two steals.
- Jordan Reynolds tied her career-high of 11 points and became the third Lady Vol with 10-plus.
- With 10 points vs. Mizzou and 11 tonight vs. Vandy, Reynolds has the first back to back double figure scoring games of her career.
- Ariel Massengale was the fourth Lady Vol with at least 10 points and had a total of 12.
PERFECT FROM THE LINE
- It was the seventh time this season that UT shot 80 percent or better from the free throw line.
- Jordan Reynolds, Ariel Massengale and Cierra Burdick were perfect from the free throw line.
- Six of Massengale's points came from the line. Reynolds was 4-for-4 and Burdick was 2-for-2.
- Carter was near perfect going 5-for-6.
NUMBERS IN THE PAINT
- Tennessee outscored VU in the paint 18-16 despite foul trouble from Isabelle Harrison.
- This season UT is winning the points in the paint battle 494 to 308 over the first 14 games, despite missing Harrison for the first five games of the season and Mercedes Russell redshirting this season.
CARTER NOTCHES CAREER BEST GAME
- In back-to-back games, Andraya Carter recorded a new career high in points. She earned a new best with 19 points to lead all scorers.
- Carter had her best back-to-back games since Texas (13) and Saint Francis (12).
- She scored a career-high 16 points vs. Missouri and added 19 tonight vs. Vandy making it her best back to back games of her scoring career.
AT THE HALF
- At the half, the Lady Vols the Commodores 25-17 on below average shooting. The 25 points were the third lowest points scored in a first half so far this season. The 17 points scored by VU were the second lowest allowed.
- Cierra Burdick all scorers with 10 points and five rebounds.
- UT outrebounded VU 21-14 and forced nine rebounds.
- UT shot 37.0 percent (10-27) while Vanderbilt shot 26.1 percent (6-23).
UP NEXT
- The Lady Vols will host #9/8 Texas A&M on Thursday night in Thompson-Boling Arena at 7 p.m. on SEC Network.
