POSTGAME NOTES
THE SERIES
- This marked the 25th meeting between the schools.
- UT now holds a 20-5 record in the series and an 8-2 mark at Notre Dame. The Irish have won five straight vs. UT.
- The loss to #6/7 Notre Dame snapped an 11-game win streak for UT.
FOR STARTERS
- Today's starters: Bashaara Graves, Cierra Burdick, Isabelle Harrison, Andraya Carter, Jordan Reynolds.
- Graves and Reynolds are the only two that have started every game this season.
- This is the seventh straight game that the Lady Vols have used this line-up. They are now 7-1 with the group.
- The jump ball was controlled by the Lady Vols.
- The first points were scored by Bashaara Graves with a lay-up.
OFF THE BENCH
- Ariel Massengale was the first off the bench for the 13th time this season.
- Nia Moore was the second Lady Vol in with 16:01 left in the first half.
- Jaime Nared was the first freshman in for Tennessee. She came in with 10:56 left in the first half.
- Alexa Middleton made her game debut in the second half.
- UT outscored the Irish bench 15-11.
THE BEAST IS BACK
- Already in the first half, Bashaara Graves had scored more than she had since the Texas game (15) with a total of 14.
- Graves was 10-for-20 and earned a new season-high 22 points. She added eight rebounds.
- With 22 points, Graves brings her career points total to 967. She is one of four Lady Vols who are within reach of hitting 1,000 points in her career.
OFFENSIVELY SPEAKING
- Four Lady Vols scored in double digits vs. the Irish: Bashaara Graves, Isabelle Harrison, Ariel Massengale and Cierra Burdick.
- With under 10 minutes left in the game, Andraya Carter had six back-to-back points for the Lady Vols. She earned a game total of nine. She had four steals, three assists and a block.
- Harrison scored 12 points and had nine rebounds, two steals and an assist and block.
- Burdick earned 15 points to go with four rebounds and three assists.
- Massengale was 3-for-6 from beyond the arc and had a total of 11 points. She added four assists to bring her career total to 467.
AT THE HALF
- The Lady Vols trailed for the sixth time this season at the half 40-37.
- Notre Dame shot an opponent high of 62.5 (15-24) percent in the first half. The Lady Vols shot 45.7 percent (16-35).
- UT dominated the glass and out-rebounded the Irish 18-13.
- Bashaara Graves let UT scorers with 14 points.
UP NEXT
- UT returns to Thompson-Boling Arena on Jan. 22 to host LSU for the annual "We Back Pat" game at 7 p.m. on the SEC Network.
