THE SERIES
- Sunday marks the 59th meeting all-time between the Lady Vols and the Gators in a series that dates back to 1978. UF leads the series 44-13-1 and claimed both meetings in 2013. UT is 5-19-1 when facing the Gators in Knoxville while head coach Rob Patrick is 7-30 against UF over his 17-year tenure on Rocky Top.
- Nov. 20, 2013: The last meeting between the two programs, seventh-ranked UF claimed a 3-0 victory in Knoxville. Then senior libero Ellen Mullins registered 11 digs in the loss, becoming UT's all-time leader in career digs at 1,756. She went on to end her four-year career with 1,801 digs to her name.
- Oct. 27, 2013: Tennessee fell in straight sets to the fifth-ranked Gators in Gainesville, 3-0. Shealyn Kolosky had seven kills for the Lady Vols while Jamie Lea added six. UF snapped a three-match losing streak to UT with the win.
- Nov. 4, 2012: Tennessee's last win over Florida came in a hard-fought, 3-2 victory in Gainesville in 2012. Each of the final three sets of the match were decided by the minimum two points as UT snared its third straight win over UF -- its second longest in program history. DeeDee Harrison had 18 kills for the Lady Vols.
TENNESSEE (8-16, 1-9 SEC)
- In their most recent action, the Lady Vols fell, 3-0, at No. 18 Kentucky on Wednesday night. The loss dropped UT to 0-3 against ranked foes this season and just 1-8 on the road.
- Kendra Turner led the Lady Vols with 12 kills on the night, giving her five matches this season of double digit kills. It was also the sixth time this season she has paced UT in the kills column.
- Ashley Mariani recorded 11 kills for the second straight match at UK -- her fourth match of the year with 10 or more kills.
- DS/L Bridgette Villano and RS Kanisha Jimenez are each ranked inside the SEC's top 20 in digs per set. Villano holds the No. 11 spot with a 3.26 digs per set average while Jimenez sits at No. 20, averaging 2.60 scoops per frame.
- Junior setter Lexi Dempsey and fresheman Iesha Bryant are currently the only Lady Vols to rank inside the SEC top 10 in any statistical category. Dempsey's 8.16 assists per set and Bryant's 1.02 blocks per frame are both good for 10th in the league.
- Tennessee posted a season-best attack percentage of .291 in its home win over Ole Miss on Oct. 26. That figure is also the second-highest for UT over the last two seasons.
#8 FLORIDA (17-3, 11-0 SEC)
- The Gators are the only unbeaten team in SEC play and enter the match ranked eighth in the AVCA Coaches Poll.
- With UF's 3-0 win over Georgia on Wednesday night, the Gators are now on a 12-match winning streak -- the 11th longest active streak in the country and the longest in the SEC.
- Florida has dropped only two sets through 11 conference matches (3-1 wins at LSU and South Carolina).
- Middle blocker Rhamat Alhassan currently ranks second in the NCAA in hitting efficiency. The true freshman owns an attack perentage of .463, converting 189 kills on 315 swings with just 43 errors. It's also the top mark in the SEC.
- Sophomore right side Alex Holston currently leads the team in kills at 3.49 per frame. She posted 12 kills in Athens on Wednesday night, doing her damage on a .526 attacking clip. She completed the double-double with 11 digs along the way.
- Florida is 6-1 on the season in true road matches, including a victory at No. 6 USC on Sept. 12. Its only blemish came in Tallahassee in a tough 3-2 loss to then No. 8 and now No. 3 Florida State.
